About Wireless

In 2011, Sisvel acquired a portfolio of 47 patent families comprised of more than 500 patents and patent applications originally filed by Nokia.

The Sisvel Wireless licensing programme includes 33 patent families consisting of more than 450 patents and applications (the "Sisvel Wireless Patents"). The Sisvel Wireless Patents have been declared essential to second, third and fourth-generation communications standards such as GSM, WCDMA and LTE. Therefore, they cover technologies used in a wide range of mobile communications devices and services.

Products with cellular connectivity make use of the Sisvel Wireless Patents. Examples of such products are: mobile phones, smartphones, mobile hotspots, tablets, e-book readers, laptops and M2M devices.

Companies commercialising products with cellular connectivity require a licence under the Sisvel Wireless licensing programme. The remaining portion of the portfolio consists of implementation patents including video encoding optimisation technologies.

Sisvel is offering licences to the patents within the Sisvel Wireless licensing programme on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms.
