Nokia secured a victory against Amazon last Friday when a court in Dusseldorf imposed a Germany-wide injunction covering the US tech giant’s Prime Video service. Enforcement of the order pending appeal would require Nokia to post more than €600 million, and Amazon has reassured German subscribers that the service will not go offline. Together with active suits in the UPC, UK, US, Brazil and India, the ruling strengthens the Finnish company’s momentum towards a significant deal for its video licensing programme.

Elsewhere, earnings season rolled on with results from two of the biggest names in licensing. Qualcomm gave updates on its progress in China, including new details about its relationship with Transsion, while projecting relatively flat royalty receipts in the year ahead. InterDigital celebrated strong revenue and profit figures, building progress toward a previously announced goal of $1 billion in annually recurring revenue by 2030.

There was also news of fresh German SEP filings targeting Xiaomi with patents originating from ASUSTeK. And Sisvel Insights published an interview exploring the company’s deep involvement in standards-setting.
