About DVB-S2

DVB-S2 is the "second generation" modulation and channel coding system developed by the DVB Project as a successor to the DVB-S system. It covers a variety of applications by satellite, such as broadcast services, interactive services, TV contribution and data content distribution.

It makes use of advanced modulation and coding techniques to deliver performance that approaches the theoretical limit (Shannon) of a communication channel.

It was published as ETSI EN 302 307 in 2005 and it is now defined as Part 1, with Part 2 being the DVB-S2X standard.
