About JPEG-XT
The JPEG-XT format supports a true high-dynamic-range (HDR) image in a JPEG-compatible still-picture format. Specifying a series of backward compatible extensions to the legacy JPEG standard, JPEG-XT offers higher bit depth (up to 16 bits), HDR imaging, lossless compression, Wide Colour Gamut (WCG) and representation of alpha channels, not addressed by the JPEG technology.
The JPEG-XT patents licensed by Sisvel were owned by Dolby International AB (affiliate of Dolby Laboratories, Inc.) and Trellis Europe S.r.l.
